Woodworking Training for Camp Staff

Girls at Work, Inc. offers a comprehensive training program for camp staff each summer before the season begins. This training is open to both men and women and offers a hands-on approach for developing and implementing a woodworking program for your camp.

Program Goals:

«    To teach competence in all aspects of woodshop safety and to develop an understanding of related ACA standards.

«   To teach use of hand and power tools and the skills and knowledge needed to teach these skills to campers.

«    To teach building methods for several small projects.

«    To discuss how to establish and run an effective woodworking program or how to improve the quality of your existing program.

Cost: The cost of our three day training is $350.00 which includes meals.

Instructor: Elaine Hamel has been a self employed general contractor for almost twenty years specializing in residential renovations and all assistants have gone through our training. She founded Girls At Work, Inc. after teaching woodworking at summer camps for many years.

Location: Our woodshop is located in Goffstown, NH, twenty minutes west of Manchester. We have a fully equipped workshop that is designed to five students at a time.

Camping: You are welcome to camp overnight on the property. There is a portable toilette on site as well as a grill. Water will also be available.

Note: No previous woodworking experience is required. The hands-on approach of Girls at Work Inc. should enable you to better understand the challenges and frustrations you may encounter with your campers and how best to handle them.
